Lucile Marcella (Stanley) Wurster Williams Obituary Williams, Lucile 3/25/1918 - 9/22/2014 Lucile M. (Stanley) (Wurster) Williams (96) passed away, after a short illness, on September 22 at Silver Maples Respite Care in Chelsea surrounded by family. Lucile, the daughter of Alfred John and Olive (McNeill) Stanley was born in Walkerville, Ontario, Canada. She moved with her parents to the Detroit area and then to Manchester where she graduated from high school in 1935. Lucile married LeRoy Charles Wurster on August 27, 1938. Lucile and LeRoy had two daughters Gaelene (Dale) Horning and Marilyn Wurster (Sid Smith). LeRoy preceded her in death in 1957. On January 10, 1964, Lucile married Arthur L Williams and added a son (Jack Williams) to the family. Arthur preceded her in death in 1992. Lucile attended beauty school in Detroit and opened a salon in Manchester in the fifties. She retired and closed the salon in the eighties. Lucile was a life-long member of the Order of Eastern Stars and was the Washtenaw Country President in the seventies. In 2008, Lucile received the President's Volunteer Service Award for volunteering over 4,000 hours. Part of the 4,000 hours was dedicated to the Manchester Alumni Association. Lucile started preparing the Alumni Association Graduate Handbook in 1962 and continued updating the book until 2012. Lucile was devoted to her bridge groups and her neighbors in Manchester. She was the oldest member of the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Manchester. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 18th from 2 to 4 PM in the Fellowship Hall of the church. Donations in Lucile's name can be made to the Emanuel Church or the Oak Grove Cemetery in Manchester.
